Both cladding and siding make up the exterior surface area, or façade, of a building. Siding is applied directly to a wall, while cladding attaches indirectly to the wall via furring strips, to create ventilation and drainage and water-resistive barrier. Siding may be nailed directly to something like a foam board, and the space left between the cladding and barrier dovetails with rainscreen systems.
Our product can be installed over rain screen systems directly over standard barrier wraps. Please follow the International Building codes & standards when applying our product.
Cladding is a layer of material placed over a structure or surface. It gives the appearance to floors, walls, façades, interiors, plateaus, baseboards, planters, etc. in both aesthetic and functional ways. Although architectural cladding comes in two general types – interior and exterior – it comes in many varieties to suite many needs.
Cladding is used on facia boards, the horizontal timber fixed to rafters, gutters and eaves. It’s used on soffets, which are located on the downward-facing surfaces underneath the fascia. Trim edging material, including around windows and doors, can also be made up of cladding.
